The Northwest Florida Homeschool Band was started in 1989 by Glenda Jones, our Director Emeritus. We praise God that she found a way to teach her children as well as our own. The band originally consisted of just Glenda’s children, but quickly grew to an average of 45 band members per year.
In 2002, Nathan Witter joined the band as assistant director. During his tenure as Glenda’s assistant, Nathan was able to learn the inner workings of this very dynamic, ever-changing organization. In 2003, Nathan began a strings program to complement the band program. Beginning with the 2005-2006 season, our name has changed to reflect the incorporation of the strings program and to provide this opportunity to expand in the future. This year Nathan is the Director for the West Florida Home Education Music Association.
The program consists of Beginner Band, Beginner Strings, Intermediate Band, Orchestral Strings Jazz Band and a Wind Ensemble. We welcome you to the start of another great year! If you have additional questions after reading our handbook, please call one of our officers.
