WFHEMA is please to announce that we will be holding our annual Summer Music Camp!
Camp will take place July 20th through 24th from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at East Hill Christian School, 1301 East Gonzalez Street, Pensacola, FL 32501.
Children ages 8 to 18 are invited to experience a week of fun, music, music theory, and fellowship. No experience is necessary. Our beginner camp learns the fundamentals of reading notes and basic rhythm. Beginner campers will receive a recorder that is his/hers to keep. In addition, Schmidt’s Music will be in to let our beginners try out difference instruments and provide recommendations as to which instrument best suits each camper.
Our intermediate camp is perfect for students that have one to three years on their instrument. Campers will come together, both winds and strings, for a week of challenging music, music theory, fun, and fellowship.
Campers with 3+ years experience on their instruments are invited to audition for our advanced camp. Advanced campers will spend the week learning in depth music theory and preparing a challenging selection.
All groups will perform Friday!
$75 for the first camper
$50 for each additional family camper
$10 late fee assessed for registrations received after July 3rd.

WFHEMA is pleased to announce that registration for the 2020/2021 year is open!
WFHEMA offers six different classes for musicians from beginning through advanced levels. Beginning students need no musical experience whatsoever. Many students have come to their first class having never take their instrument out of its case. Our instructors are respected music educators with vast experience teaching all levels.

Interested in joining WFHEMA? Orientation is the place for you!
Orientation for the 2019-2020 year will be held on Monday, August 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of McIlwain Presbyterian Church.
During Orientation, students and parents will learn the details of the upcoming concert year, receive the WFHEMA handbook and calendar of events for the year, and hear details regarding fundraising opportunities. In addition, students and parents will have the opportunity to meet our wonderful Music Directors, Parent Association Officers, and members of our Board of Directors.
Returning students will have the opportunity to sign up for auditions, which will be held on Thursday, August 29th.

Cost: $75 for the first student/$50 for each additional student. Students will receive a camp t-shirt and a snack/drink each day.
We offer three groups:
Intro to Music is for children with no musical experience. During camp, students will learn the fundamentals of reading music, rhythm, learn to play the recorder, and play fun games with Mrs. Molly Hollingsworth (our strings instructor) and Mr. Wess Hillman (our band instructor). On Thursday, our Intro students will enjoy a visit from Schmidt’s Music and will be able to try out the majority of the orchestral instruments to learn which instrument(s) they love and suit them best. Then Friday, parents will enjoy a short concert during which our students will show off what they’ve learned during the week
Intermediate Camp is for students with one or more years experience on their instrument. Students will enjoy theory workshops and intensive instruction on two selections of music under the direction of Mrs. Molly Hollingsworth (our strings instructor) and Mr. Wess Hillman (or band instructor). On Friday, they will perform for parents.
Advanced Camp is available to students that have received a recommendation from their instructor ( or 4+ years experience on their instrument if they are not currently enrolled in WFHEMA). These students will receive a week long intensive in music theory and will prepare a challenging musical piece under the direction of Mr. Dallas Roper (instructor of our Chamber Orchestra). On Friday, they will perform their prepared piece for parents.
Registration Deadline: May 31st. Late registrations will be taken through June 19th at $85 for the first student/$50 for each additional student. Please note that students registered after June 2nd are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
